OZORA KENDAMA - The original Kendama
The history of kendama would not have been written without the Ozora brand. Since 1977 it is the most recognized factory by all connoisseurs of the Japanese cup-and-ball. The Yamagata Hakushinsha company started its activity making wooden toys in 1973. Four years later it started kendama. Its activity and notoriety have only grown so far. It now occupies a place of reference in this small sector halfway between crafts and industry.
In 2005, it changed its name to become Yamagata Koubou Co. Ltd. that we know today. It was at this time that she created the OZORA, and has been operating under this commercial entity ever since.
In 2018, the Japanese brand decided to release an innovative shape: the REShape embodying the evolution of the original Ozora shape over time. It facilitates tricks and is more like a “new school” shape which is suitable for beginners as well as experienced players. The Reshape V2, released in 2019, was appreciated for its new colors but without retouching the dimensions of the shape.
Finally in 2021, after some improvements, Ozora is releasing the Reshape 3 which will transform as the Japanese weapon of this new year. Nothing to do with the old Ozora, the Reshape 3 has a cup hole base, protruding cups and great tracking.
